While we firmly go on record stating that meeting regulations is crucial, focusing on mere regulatory compliance can at times impact a business especially when there is subjectivity in what constitutes compliance and because each company has its own unique set of risks, demands and needs to run an operationally efficient business.
NRS has approximately 18 years of experience working with both FDA and USDA regulated food companies evaluating and assessing food safety risks, legal risks and brand risks to help these companies ultimately achieve regulatory compliance and best in class brand protection programs.
We provide a wide range of services that protect your business risks. These range from:
- Serving as a liaison with regulatory agencies when regulatory “compliance” is a question of interpretation like when an FDA 483 is issued and a response is needed, or when an argument can be made that the situation is a Class II not a Class I recall.
- NRS also provides high level “gap maps” based on remote evaluations of your documented plans to robust, holistic risk assessments that typically involve onsite visits so we can dig into your systems more deeply. Both types are complimented with “risk maps” that show our clients the risks or suggested enhancements we observe and recommendations to address them.
NRS has helped domestic and international food manufacturers, international restaurant chains, vertically integrated grocery chains and distributors identify existing food safety risk, brand and legal/compliance risk and reduce their risk exposure. For example we have done this through building global food safety risk maturity models and implementing these models to achieve best in class systems, and developed practical implementation tools and approaches for FSMA in facilities for requirements such as food safety plans.
Controlling your supply chain is also critical to managing your business risks as they relate to food safety risk management. NRS can also review your existing supplier approval / verification programs and perform a gap analysis (gap map) and/ or help you create a robust supplier approval program (in alignment with FSMA rules if you are governed by the Preventive Controls Rules and/or Foreign Supplier Verification Program, as applicable ).
NRS also performs more per se legal reviews of supplier and customer contracts, terms and conditions and specifications, and advises generally on how to set up the contract management aspects of these programs.
We customize projects based on our clients’ needs-focusing on providing services that risk-based, science-based and very importantly, customer-service based! Contact NRS for more information on ways we can help with your food safety business risk management needs
